The French run of shows started 17 February 1996 in Dijon and ran through 23 February in St. Germain En Laye (see spaintheband.com/album/spain-la-clef-leclipse-st-germain-en-laye-france-23-february-1996 for the bootleg recording). Our first French appearance of the tour was actually in Paris on 14 February, for the TV variety show Nulle part ailleurs (youtu.be/uy-pHImGb0Y), a rescheduling after the original date in 1995 December had to be cancelled.

According to the tour booklet, our labelmate Lori Carson of Golden Palominos fame opened this show, as well as all the French shows and the subsequent gigs in Belgium, Germany, and Denmark through 3 March. A band called Soap was also on the bill.

The 400 capacity La Lune Dans Le Caniveau is now a Cabinet d’Ostéopathe. The hotel we stayed in, Hotel One Star on Rue de Tauzia, is now called Hotel Many Stars. I remember doing several press interviews before the show. One of the interviewers gave me a couple bottles of Bordeaux wine. I put them in my suitcase and drank them when I got home to LA.
